Application Process

How do I apply?

The application process is very simple!

• Students should apply as Freshmen or Sophomores

• Please send a single e-mail message to Ms. Elvira Hack (eghack@ucdavis.edu) with a one-page letter explaining your motivation to join the program. Please include a list of any particular areas within biology that are potentially of special interest to you, and briefly describe any previous research experiences you may have had.  Previous research experience is not required. Please also include the best e-mail address for us to use in any correspondence. The deadline for applications is April 10th, 2012.

We will evaluate your letter and UCD academic record, and be back in touch.  Selected students will be invited to come for in-person interviews during which we will discuss your academic and research interests further.  Finally, a series of interviews will be set up for selected students with potential mentoring faculty members as the final step in finding an ideal lab placement.
